November 17th, 2021, is a day that will not be forgotten. It's the day that Jagex changed the OSRS Duel Arena only to allow a maximum stake of 10 Million Coins. Even the Wise Old Man told me this update was a bad idea. The last time I didn't listen to him, we got hit with a water blast during Swan Song. The worst part is, they didn't even poll it! Jagex has been using a voting system to decide what updates come next. Voting is what a fair democracy looks like, in my opinion. For this update, though, they just went ahead and removed the duel arena without any votes. Do you know how they say, "you don't appreciate something until it's gone"? That's how I felt.
I used to go to the duel arena to re-coop whatever I lost pking. It was a fun way to earn gold and enhance my Runescape experience. The Duel Arena is still there, but it's not nearly as active as it once was.
Since removing the duel arena, 3rd party websites started to appear to allow people to stake more significant amounts. What a surprise? Not really. Players will always find a way around Jagex. Remember when free trade was removed in 2011? Players had to add 100,000 adamant arrows (+) to the trade as "junk". That was just one-way players circumvented Jagex, and if there is a will, there is a way!
Jagex is removing the Duel Arena and replacing it with The PVP Arena or Emir's Arena. Players will have the chance to fight one another in a controlled environment, so the battle is fair. You'll be able to compete in a duel or tournament as whatever type of player you want to be.

There will also be new sets of armour that are damaged upon death. It will be like a void where you drop coins if you die and repair the armour to use it again.
Regardless of the Duel arena people will continue to Buy OSRS gold. there are tons of reasons to buy gold, not just the duel arena. The duel arena was beloved but it was not the entire game and now in 2024 there are still tens of thousands of active players.
